Methodology
Search interest is indexed on a 0–100 scale following Google Trends conventions, normalised within each geographic region. Time-series points are weekly averages between January 6 and May 25, 2026. Year-over-year comparisons use the same calendar weeks in 2024–25 as a baseline.
Geographic scope: English-speaking Canada outside Ontario and Quebec. Those two provinces are excluded by editorial focus — DailyStash's audience and reporting concentrate on the rest of Canada. Territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut) are reported as a single combined panel to preserve small-sample reliability.
Topics: Four query clusters were tracked — tournament schedule, ticket purchase, the Canadian men's national team, and viewing-party logistics. Top-rising queries are filtered to terms with at least 50 unique-query volume per week.
Limitations: Indexed values are not absolute search volumes. Province-to-province comparisons are valid; comparisons to other regions outside this dataset are not.

Province deep-dives
Top five search terms and an editorial read for each ROC region.
British ColumbiaInterest 92 · YoY +147%
- World Cup 2026 schedule
- Canada vs Switzerland tickets
- BC Place map
- Vancouver fan zone
- TSN World Cup stream
BC sits at the centre of ROC interest. Two Canada matches at BC Place push every search vertical — tickets, transit, fan zones — and Pacific-time kickoffs mean Vancouverites can watch from a desk chair instead of a 4 a.m. alarm.
AlbertaInterest 81 · YoY +118%
- Canada World Cup tickets
- Calgary World Cup pub crawl
- Edmonton fan zone
- Canada vs Belgium time
- World Cup TSN Calgary
Alberta searches skew team-first. Calgary and Edmonton pub districts have already started promoting their fan-zone footprints; ticket queries grow week-on-week despite no home matches inside the province.
SaskatchewanInterest 64 · YoY +96%
- World Cup BC Place
- Saskatoon fan zone
- Canada World Cup roster
- Regina pub viewing
- TSN streaming
Saskatchewan's curve is steady, not spiky. Most growth comes from generic informational queries — schedules, broadcasters — and the few destination-travel queries that exist point to Vancouver.
ManitobaInterest 71 · YoY +102%
- Canada vs Belgium
- Winnipeg fan zone
- World Cup viewing party
- Manitoba TSN
- World Cup 2026 dates
Manitoba over-indexes on Canada's three group matches relative to its population. The Winnipeg downtown fan-zone announcement triggered a measurable lift in 'viewing party' queries in mid-April.
Nova ScotiaInterest 68 · YoY +134%
- World Cup pub Halifax
- Halifax Waterfront fan zone
- World Cup Atlantic time
- Canada match time AT
- Nova Scotia TSN
Nova Scotia is the surprise. Halifax's confirmed waterfront fan zone — plus pub-going culture during evening kickoffs — drives an outsized share of 'viewing party' queries in ROC.
New BrunswickInterest 58 · YoY +121%
- Canada World Cup roster
- Moncton fan zone
- World Cup TSN New Brunswick
- Atlantic time kickoff
- World Cup viewing party
New Brunswick's signal looks like Nova Scotia's, scaled down. Bilingual roster queries appear in the top 20, reflecting the province's francophone population without crossing into Quebec's data.
Newfoundland & LabradorInterest 55 · YoY +110%
- World Cup Atlantic time
- Newfoundland Time kickoff
- World Cup TSN
- Canada vs Switzerland
- St John's pub viewing
Newfoundland's defining query is 'Atlantic time' — fans are doing the half-hour kickoff math. Local TSN coverage and St John's pub viewing dominate the rest of the list.
Prince Edward IslandInterest 49 · YoY +88%
- World Cup viewing party
- Charlottetown fan zone
- Canada vs Belgium
- World Cup pub PEI
- TSN streaming
PEI's tiny population still posts a respectable interest index. Almost all growth comes from local-viewing logistics — fan zones, pubs, streaming providers — rather than ticket or travel queries.
Territories (combined)Interest 41 · YoY +73%
- How to watch World Cup 2026
- Yukon TSN
- Whitehorse pub viewing
- World Cup time Yukon
- Canada match streaming
Combined-territory data is small-sample but consistent. The defining query is 'how to watch' — broadcaster availability and time-zone math dominate over team-specific interest.
