Interac e-Transfer not working? A troubleshooting guide by bank — FAQ
Why is my CIBC e-Transfer taking a long time?
Most Interac e-Transfers arrive within 30 minutes. Delays usually mean the recipient hasn't opened the notification and doesn't have auto-deposit set up. First-time transfers to a new recipient also trigger CIBC's fraud review, which can add up to 24 hours.
Why is my TD e-Transfer not working?
Common causes at TD: hitting the CA$[VERIFY] daily send limit, the recipient's email/SMS not matching TD's records, or an active security hold. TD's in-app chat resolves most cases in one session.
Can I e-Transfer with a locked account?
No. If your account is locked (typically after failed login attempts or a fraud flag), all outgoing transfers are frozen until you call the bank to unlock.
How do I fix an expired e-Transfer?
Expired transfers (past 30 days) auto-return to the sender's account. There's no way to re-activate one — just send a new transfer.
