    When you can't do this

    • One handle (email or phone) can only be registered for auto-deposit at one bank account across all Canadian banks.
    • Business email addresses shared across multiple people are usually rejected by Interac's registration.
    • Some corporate/investment accounts don't support auto-deposit registration.

Interac auto-deposit: how to turn it on (and off) at every major Canadian bank — FAQ

How do I turn on auto-deposit at CIBC?

CIBC Online Banking → Transfers → Interac e-Transfer → Auto Deposit Settings → Register. Enter your email or Canadian mobile, pick a deposit account, and confirm via the link Interac sends. Activation is usually instant [VERIFY].

How do I turn off auto-deposit at CIBC?

Same path — CIBC Online Banking → Interac e-Transfer → Auto Deposit Settings → Deregister. Removing takes effect immediately; new incoming transfers will require the usual security question.

Can I have two email addresses on auto-deposit?

Yes. Each email or phone number is registered separately. You can point multiple handles at the same account, or split them across accounts. Each handle needs its own Interac verification.

    Is auto-deposit safe?

Auto-deposit removes the security question, which was Interac's main weak point — attackers who guessed the question could steal funds. Auto-deposit is now the recommended default and is at least as safe as the security-question flow.
